The broad aim of the Diploma and Higher Diploma in Education is to prepare a more able, efficient, internationally oriented, skilled teaching force in Sri Lanka. The programme will equip Teachers with necessary knowledge and skills as well as inculcate continuing education mindset to enable them to
* Engage in best practices to maximize learning outcomes.
* Employ sound educational theories and principles in day-to-day teaching and related tasks.
* Provide creative and flexible opportunity to teachers who are busy but nevertheless wish to gain internationally recognized teaching credentials to further boost their professional careers in education.
*Contribute to the overall quality of education by becoming professionally attuned to wide range of effective educational practices, by identifying and discarding those that are not effective.
*To become a part of a bigger group of professional teacher network that make up a constructive community of learners aimed at advancing the cause of good education for all, locally and internationally.
Practical Training : Monday to Friday from 7.30 am to 1.30 pm.
Admission requirements:
GCE AL - any 3 subjects passed with at least 1 Credit.
GCE OL - any 6 subjects passed with at least 1 or 3 credits preferably Maths and English.
Ability to follow course in English medium.
(Proof of English Proficiency IELTS 5.5, TOEFL 500 or 173 CBT, BSM test score of 80% or equivalent)
(Those require these scores bands could follow an interim course at Dharul Hikma Institute)
For the Higher Diploma the applicant must first complete the Diploma.
